The Canadiens' Next Alex Newhook or Kirby Dach Acquisition Already Identified? Kent Hughes Could Turn to Peyton Krebs
Kent Hughes loves acquiring young, established, and promising players who haven't yet fully found their footing in the NHL.
This was the case in 2022 with Kirby Dach, and last year with Alex Newhook. According to the GM's statements, he might try the experience again this year as he continues to seek improvements to the Canadiens' offense.
The Snake Simon Boisvert recently highlighted a player who could be interesting for Hughes and fits his style. That player is Peyton Krebs, currently with Buffalo.
"I really like Peyton Krebs. I could see him fitting well in a middle-six role to create plays and add intensity and energy to the Canadiens. In my opinion, he certainly wouldn't cost much because eventually, Buffalo will have to make choices. They have a lot of young forwards, and they can't keep them all. I think Krebs will be the guy they'll have to part with, and if I were the Canadiens, I'd reach out."

It's a very interesting proposition, especially since Krebs was a 2019 draft pick, 17th overall, just ahead of Alex Newhook.
The left-handed center has 60 points in 191 NHL games and could break out at any moment. Do you like the idea?
