Nick Bobrov confirms the news, and it's a steal for the Montreal Canadiens with the selection of Michael Hage
The Montreal Canadiens made strides on the ice last year, particularly with their top line, and the management made significant progress over the summer, according to Nick Bobrov.
Indeed, there were some great acquisitions over the summer, even though Patrik Laine is the only significant active player who arrived in Montreal.
The major acquisitions were mostly in the draft. The assessment is very positive for the third consecutive year in this regard.
Looking at 2022, Juraj Slafkovsky, Owen Beck, and Lane Hutson were excellent picks. Filip Mesar is somewhat less so, but a 3 out of 4 average is still quite good.
In 2023, David Reinbacher, Jacob Fowler, and Florian Xhekaj made their debut. This year, Ivan Demidov and Michael Hage. It's Hage who is the topic of discussion here.
While all eyes are on Ivan Demidov, the acquisition of Michael Hage is practically miraculous. Nick Bobrov was very pleased.
"He was one of the biggest names in the Draft. A player like him, in a normal year, wouldn't have slipped to 21st overall." - Bobrov, who believes the Canadiens pulled off a steal with their 21st overall pick
It seems there was a completed trade between the Canadiens and the Ducks involving Trevor Zegras, Logan Mailloux, and the famed 21st overall pick. Kent Hughes reportedly canceled this trade to select Michael Hage.
