Major: Kent Hughes has a golden opportunity to trade a goalie with this announcement from the Los Angeles Kings
There have been several rumors about Canadiens' goalies in recent months, but nothing has materialized yet. The pressure is mounting on Kent Hughes because a significant fan base eagerly awaits some action.
A setback has just occurred for the Los Angeles Kings, clearly to the advantage of the Canadiens. Cam Talbot had an excellent start to the season, so much so that he is their representative for the All-Star Game. However, his performances have declined in recent weeks, and his backup, Phoenix Copley, is injured.
Speaking of Copley, the Kings have just announced that he will miss the rest of the season, changing the situation. Initially, he wasn't supposed to be out for that long, but now the team has no choice but to take action.
The Kings are in win-now mode. They are ready to go all the way, and they absolutely need to trade for a goalie; otherwise, an injury to Talbot could be fatal.
"[...] Pheonix Copley will not be back this season for the Kings. Convinced that Kent Hughes is watching the situation closely and that discussions surrounding Jake Allen (or Cayden Primeau) will resume!" Obviously, when you learn that a team needs a goalie, the Canadiens become an attractive option with two available netminders who can get the job done.
